Canon Powershot SD1400

by Joe

Canon has just taken a large lead in the compact camera megapixel race by releasing the SD1400 IS, the newest in their line of Elph digital cameras.  Boasting 14.1 megapixel resolution and a 28mm wide-angle lens, the Canon SD1400 IS takes some of the clearest photographs of any compact camera on the market—even if you zoom in on your photos.

And zooming in is another area Canon chose to improve by including a 4x digital zoom—perfect for capturing close-up shots, even if your subject is moving. If you love taking pics of the kids playing sports or the dogs bouncing around in the backyard, you’ll also appreciate the Optical Image Stabilizer, a mechanism that senses and counteracts camera shake—one of the leading causes of blurry unusable photos. When the Optical Image Stabilizer is on, you’ll notice more of your photos come out clear and vivid.

But I think the Canon SD1400 IS will be most popular among people who love taking videos, as the camera is not only capable of capturing a ton of HD video in 720p, but can also be plugged directly into your HDTV with its handy HDMI out.

Top it all off with a casing that is sleek, compact enough to fit in your pocket anywhere you go and comes in a variety of awesome colors to suit just about every personality, and you’ve got one of the most powerful cameras in a small package at a great price in the Canon SD1400 IS.
