I live close to a few trailheads and love to go hiking and mountain biking with the wife or my friends to get some daily exercise while checking out the scenery on the trails. A lot of times there are some really beautiful views, so I wanted to pick up a great digital camera that was small enough to bring along no matter what activity I was doing, but also high quality enough to take really good panoramic shots.
I had heard a bunch of great reviews of Canon’s Powershot Elph series, so I decided to check out their newest camera, the Canon Powershot SD1400 IS and give it a review of my own.
So far the Canon Powershot SD1400 IS stacks up even to some of my friends more professional cameras that are really bulky and not considered portables at all. They all seem really impressed that the resolution is a full 14.1 megapixels, and the 28mm wide-angle lens is really great for vivid panoramic shots. I’ve taken tons of great pictures just using the Smart AUTO mode where the camera picks the settings for you and the Optical Image stabilizer that gets rid of the camera shake that most amateurs like me usually have.
On top of that, the Camera is super cool; I got the matte orange color, and it’s just about as sporty as I am! Plus it’s less than an inch thick and fits perfectly in the side sleeve of my backpack. If you’re looking for a camera powerful enough to stand up to nature without all the bulk, the Canon Powershot SD1400 is an amazing choice.
